This is Volker Koepp's second documentary telling personal stories of Czernowitz's inhabitants. His 1999 documentary, Herr Zwilling and Frau Zuckermann, introduced the last two Jews born in Czernowitz who returned to live there after surviving World War Two and the camps. Other survivors emigrated to the far corners of the world. Koepp accompanies several returning emigres or their descendants, such as the actor Harvey Keitel.
