In a near-future there is no privacy as - thanks to sinister electronic implants - everyone's data is available to everyone else. However, while trying to solve a series of murders, detective Sal Frieland (Clive Owen) stumbles into a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) who appears to have subverted the vast database where everyone's personal information is on public display. She has no identity, no history and no record...and Sal realises he must find her before he becomes the next victim.
